Roger, our car owner and driver, is an instructor for driving events. Below is a little video of he and Ricky (passenger) driving Duffy in the green group (beginner group at Tarheel). Good lines and smooth driving.
NOTE: Before you comment on how slow or lame he is - this is not a race he is an instructor amid beginners. This is tame, safe, smooth driving, not race conditions that would scare the heck out of the green group.

Barber 2015 - Third in Class
Duffy is running strong. Apparently having a real shop assemble your engine, as opposed to dragging a blown one out of a junk yard and patching it up, really works. We ran the whole race and finished 3rd in Class B and 16th overall out of 76 cars.
Barber is a great track and a fun race, and I did NOT burn up the brakes this time. A strategy of early throttle lift and a few quick pulses on the brakes, as opposed to sustained pressure and heat kept the brakes and tires looking like new. Ricky, fresh off a car accident, was not really in shape to be in a car. Much less racing. He earned a couple of black flags at the start of each if his stints for spinning in turn 1. Danny, after more than a year away from driving, again from a head injury, had a slow start, but dropped his pace a good chunk over his two stints. Roger was safe and consistent, and at a pretty good pace.
We finished 16 laps behind The Generar Ree, the class B winner. Basically, no black flags and a faster overall pace and we would be fighting for a win.
Hooniverse has a nice write-up:
Now for the important part, the beer! Here's the recipes for the two creations I brought;

New Engine Means New Problems
So I just posted how we patched up the body on Duffy, and BAM! Less than 10 minutes into our first race at Barber - WALL. What happened? Roger had a fresh D-series engine assembled for this year's races and we didn't know how it would do. Would it burn oil? make good power? And since this is an endurance race we can't just stop every 30 minutes to check things out, so he added some extra oil. A quart of extra oil. The extra oil, created extra pressure.
Anyway that pushed out the dipstick and spilled oil on the engine which ran along the suspension to cover the driver's front tire. Then things got slippery;
It was pretty minor and not much damage beyond tweaking the body panels a little. We zipped tied down the dipstick, and back on track we went. Latter in the day the electrical system went out, thanks to an oil bathed alternator. We bought a new alternator and battery and back to the track we went.
With our oil-related stops we lost a lot of time and finished 28th out of 68 cars. A least in the top half. Before sliding out of control, we were 3rd. We did however beat a diesel Chevette by 6 laps. Yeah. Hopefully, we've excised the demons and we can keep it on the track for our next race.
